Ever have a really hard time doing a certain piece of artwork? It's either actually difficult or insanely tedious, and you work and work at it and you finally manage to complete it. Then, a few hours later, you find out there was a feature on your chosen art program to make those hours turn into seconds? Yeah, I hate those. So, do you guys have any experiences like this? Which features and what program?
What is your hands down best anime fight scene? Personally, I watch any genre of anime but one of the biggest reasons I love anime are the fight scenes. I'm much more a fan of in-your-face hand to hand combat with a slight mix of powers/abilities rather than the over-the-top action of like DBZ or Fairytail (though I don't dislike them either). My favorite one that I've seen is between Obito and Kakashi in Naruto. I haven't even watched the anime to that point, I only read the manga, but I still had the feels watching them duke it out. I love it since the series is pretty infamous for heavy use of illusions and all that but Kakashi pretty much said to just cut the shit and fight it out with their taijutsu (martial arts).…
What holds you back in your art? It could be anything from the lack of skill in anatomy or color theory to a habit, like procrastination or being too easily distracted. What holds you back from creating the best, most efficient art? For me, it's definitely trying to have everything be perfect and spending too much time on details that no one really will notice. I'm currently in a webtoon (Korean webcomic) contest where a new chapter is expected of you weekly, and spending too much time on a panel is KILLING ME in terms of the time it takes to do a whole chapter. Then I realize, typically art isn't the main focus of webtoons. The most popular one, Tower of God, didn't really start off with great art at all it just has a great story. Even the good artists (art-wise) leave their mistakes, but you wouldn't even notice unless you were looking for them. So yeah, typically trying to be "perfect" holds me back even outside of a comic setting. What holds you back?
Infinite Days by IMDSound
Infinite Days
A teaser for my webtoon, Infinite Days! (It's also the thumbnail I use for my Webtoon account). Can't say much about their pasts but these are my OC's Saero and Noelle. Though their names and looks are a tiny bit different, these are the spiritual successors of OC's I've had since middle school (I'm done with college now) so it's a great pleasure to have their story be told in Naver's Webtoon Challenge. Please, do check it out when you get the chance! There's only one chapter up right now but more will be out at a weekly basis.…

Counting Stars
A scene from my webtoon, Infinite Days. It's an entry for Naver's Webtoon Challenge! If you like this, then please check out the actual webtoon for more. I'd appreciate with all my heart. As for now, only the prologue is up, but new chapters or "episodes" will be out on a weekly basis!…
I'm not really sure if anyone reads my journal posts haha but I just wanted to say thank you for the watches and the faves. It means a lot to me to finally see my art getting more notice and it inspires me to do better and to post more of my stuff that hopefully, in turn, inspire you guys to do the same.

In other news, recently I've been using Tumblr a lot more. Not to say it's better than dA but I have definitely found some great Tumblr-based artists that have really inspired. One, in particular, because she actually worked as a mangaka assistant (for the Prince of Tennis too! Not just some shabby manga) and now works in Japanese TV animation. Another one just submitted her one shot to Shounen Jump's Tezuka contest. It's really inspiring to see people similar to me (foreigners, basically) make it in Japan as artists. There are times (more often than not) that I lose the passion to want to go back to Japan and make a living with art because I'm scared that I won't be accepted. Seeing people break free from this fear inspires me to do the same.
  • Mood: Joy

Hey! I was raised in Japan for 17 years and plan to go back someday. I'm currently studying psychology in California and my dream for my art is to be able to appeal to a vast variety of people, perspectives, and cultures, so that they may find common interest in my art and the subjects in it so that we, as people, can all get along!

You're welcome! Though can I make a suggestion? When you plan the layout, try to avoid using the same pose and camera angles in consecutive frames; like when Saero and the guards are talking, it'd look more dynamic if they're viewed from different angles in each panel. My two cents. :>

Other than that, I'm looking forward to the next episode!

Good advice! I also noticed it too, but only afterwards! I guess it's the result of trying to take a shortcut by copying/pasting the underlying sketch to save time haha. But I'll definitely try to avoid it. Thanks for the suggestion!

How do you like this dry wilf fire filled state? I am a full blood Californian and don't know how others like the state who aren't from here.

I enjoy it here, though being from Japan, I can say it's always a surprise to see everything so spread out! Also, the weather here is usually the best I've experienced but recently it's been hot as hell in San Diego, and it's already October..! What part of Cali are you from?
